"Fate lent a hand in my joining Tigertailz back in October 2005. It was evident the chemistry was good and everyone was pulling together in the same direction. As a band reforming the mantra was simple - "let's have some fun." Pepsi asked me what I expected and my answer was simple, I wanted to play some great gigs and meet some great people. Now fast forward to 2010 and that has been fulfilled ten times over and my hopes surpassed. Pepsi confirmed to me some time later that he wanted me to be the last drummer Tigertailz ever had and I was happy to confirm I hoped that was the case......
.........I personally suffered a great loss in losing Pepsi. We had some great conversations in our quiet times and the last one I had with him at the filming of the 'New Flesh' video still brings tears to my eyes. Pepsi was a very level-headed, straight thinking, no bullshit, articulate, intelligent guy. It was a highlight in my life knowing him and being a part of his vision and something he created. Unfortunately over time the perspective changed. When I joined the band I could see how Pepsi interacted and respected people who followed the band and I wanted to carry that on and make him proud, do right by people who showed an interest. That is why I have always taken the time to answer EVERY message, work the forums, send out merchandise orders, look after MySpace - yes, that was ME! I wanted the band to have an approachable face. I have met some wonderful people and made some fantastic friends, yes that means YOU!
I wanted Tigertailz to realise its full potential, I wanted to take on the world and show 'we' could do it! We could be on any stage with any band and hold our own. Now this is the part that disappoints me most. Not that I will play no further part. Not that the band may enjoy successes without me. I believe the stars align for every band at some point in time and I believed with the line-up we had, Tigertailz' best chance of realising that opportunity was now. Unfortunately this vision wasn't shared and the grains of opportunity I feel have blown away in the wind. Everything has a lifespan and belongs in a certain time and my time has come to an end. The fate has decided I am meant for 'other' things, be it good or bad and I accept that, neigh embrace the opportunity it presents.
Unfortunately the whole genre of music in general is struggling. When you're getting fed the fact that certain bands are really 'happening' and 'the next big thing' when in fact they can only shift 82 tickets in a major city then it isn't good. I'm all for doing all you can to gain interest but Tigertailz could have been a band that had the talent to move forward and not rely on the past to get a decent gig.
I'm a very competitive person and in everything I do, work and play, 'Fail' is not a word that enters my vocabulary. I can promise you I will continue to find my opportunities and opportunities will find me. Some interesting offers have already come my way. The rays of success will shine on me and the sun will come in. I'm a winner not a wanker and WIN I certainly will.
Thanks very much to everyone who has sent me incredible messages of support over the last five years and I hope I've answered every single one of them. Stay in touch my friends......xx"
