Iggy And The Stooges are set to release a brand new album, 'Ready To Die', on April 30th via Fat Possum Records.
'Ready To Die' will find Iggy Pop working with guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton on a full album for the first time since their 1973 classic 'Raw Power', hence this new album being promoted as an official follow-up to that seminal piece of work, the first to be credited as 'Iggy And The Stooges' since then, as it happens.
Mike Watt (Minutemen) will, as he has done since the Stooges' reunion in 2003, fill in for the the late Ron Asheton on bass. Asheton was found dead on New Year's Day 2009 after apparently succumbing to a heart attack some days previously. The last Stooges album to feature Ron Asheton was 2007's 'The Weirdness'.
Iggy And The Stooges promise a "live assault" following the album's release, although no dates have been confirmed as of yet.
Instead of boring you with the usual press release, please enjoy below Iggy Pop himself explaining why the band will return with this new album, and below that an official ad for the album which includes new song, 'Job'.
