Electric River, The Great Malarkey, Night By Night and The Peckham Cowboys are to play the Pure Rawk Awards which will be held on Friday 8th March 2013 at the Boston Music Room in Tufnell Park, North London.
After great feedback, the Pure Rawk Awards returns to the Boston for a night of Awards giving, live music and special guests from the world of the ‘alternative’ independent, new and unsigned.
The Great Malarkey – Hackney’s irrepressible folk-punks The Great Malarkey, will bring you their unbreakable kitchen-sink fusion of riot-torn r’n’b, urban skank and swaggering street ska and anything else that takes your fancy - just so long as it makes your feet move. They were winners of the 2012 Pure Rawk “EP/Single of the Year” Award have had a fabulous year releasing their thumping debut album, “Badly Stuffed Animals”. Electric River – Honest, solid punked up pop rock n’ roll. Pure Rawk’s Andy Close has said it best; “Having listened to ‘In Your Name’ through once so far, but when the tracks from it are played live, such is their strength that even from that one listen, they’re instantly recognisable, which is the hallmark of some seriously good songwriting. Believe the hype – this lot are good.”
The likes of Big Cheese / Rocksound Magazine also sing praise for the four-piece; “The result of youthful energy and a healthy list of influences that culminate in all round catchy as hell numbers, fused with heavy handed melodies and social commentary. Bags of passion and heaps of power”. For more info, visit www.electricriver.co.uk
Night By Night - **Exclusive, stripped down acoustic appearance** British hard rock band, sporting a modern update on classic rock, with a fusion of searing guitar riffs, widescreen vocal harmonies and flawless modern production that casts a powerful spotlight on the band’s superb musicianship. Night by Night pride themselves on being able to deliver their sound live – no backing tracks and no vocal-tuning. Five instruments, 3 voices. All real. www.nightbynight.co.uk
The Peckham Cowboys - Expect trash blues rock'n'roll from these South London scallywags. A stoney Old Kent Road chancer met with a Margate spiv, they pulled a fey Midlands wastrel and, armed with the mighty Bugle and Bow Fabulizer, they set to making music that is destined "fer the bottom o' the charts!". https://www.facebook.com/pages/THE-PECKHAM-COWBOYS/184060769665?sk=info
100% of the door money from the night will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust where the money will be distributed to the specialist 16-24 year olds TCT unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey.
Nicola Crichton, Pure Rawk zine editor and organiser of the 2013 Awards comments; “Cancer is something that has touched my family life and has taken away some much loved friends of Pure Rawk over the years. We are very pleased to be able to support the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in the wonderful work that they do.
Its only £5 on the night - all money goes to charity, you get freebies, discover new bands and have a great night out. What could be more simple? Expect a very entertaining show filled to the brim with special guests, laughs … and possibly some cheese”.
Tickets for the event are on sale now for just £5.00 at www.purerawkawards.com. Voting in the final shortlist closes just after 23:59 on Friday 1st March 2013.
