EUREKA MACHINES to donate 10% of all Pledge money to Tim Smith of the Cardiacs Print E-mail
Sunday, 20 January 2013 18:47

Eureka Machines started out in 2007 when singer Chris Catalyst (occasional guitar/bass wrangler for The Sisters Of Mercy, Mariachi El Bronx, Ginger/Wildhearts, The Dead Pets and AntiProduct) got bored of waiting for Godot so decided to start a new band. We did loads of brilliant tours with bands like Electric Six, Gogol Bordello, The Stranglers and The Wildhearts, as well as bowling over festival audiences from Reading and Leeds to Guilfest to Wickerman to Galtres.

In late 2012, following Chris’s work with Ginger Wildheart on his unbelievably successful Pledge Campaign (where he raised £250,000 from his small yet hardcore fanbase), Eureka Machines launched one of our own. We never expected to do as well as Ginger, but we’re up to 900 pre-order pledges now, which by anyone’s standards for an independent and DIY band is not bad going. We feel it’s the way forward for bands like ours to go. Taking the power back from corporations who care more about marketing than music can only be a good thing.

We’re also raising money for our poorly friend Tim Smith (the man behind the legendary prog-punk band Cardiacs). 10% of everything we raise on our Pledge campaign will go to Tim, who is still in rehabilitation following a life-threatening stroke in 2009.

The album, tentatively named REMAIN IN HOPE, is produced by Chris Catalyst and Andy Hawkins (Pigeon Detectives, Hawk Eyes, Pulled Apart By Horses) and will be released to Pledgers in March 2013 followed by a commercial release later in the year.

To celebrate, we’re going on tour supporting recently reformed rock legends The Wildhearts, followed by a string of our own UK headline dates (all dates below).

We also released a video for the first single which is called POP STAR. It carries on our tradition of great videos, following an award for ‘Video Of The Year’ at the Pure Rawk Awards in 2011 (along with ‘Best Band’ and ‘Frontperson Of The Year’ in 2010.)

We do everything ourselves. We like it that way.
