THE SMOKING HEARTS are getting ready to show the world they're back again, with forthcoming album 'Victory!' It's a visceral blend of high-energy Rock 'N' Roll Punk and Hardcore, continuing the story from their debut full-length 'Pride of Nowhere'. 'Victory!' is set for release in Europe on March 25th through Bomber Music, with single 'Seatbelts' (watch the brand new video below) preceding on January 21st. Clocking in at just over the 30 minute mark, 'Victory!' is a celebration, a testament to The Smoking Hearts' DIY/ 'never say die' approach to life onstage and off.
'Victory!' was recorded with Dan Weller and Justin Hill (Sikth, Enter Shikari, Young Guns) over a period of four weeks in Fortress Studios, London. "They're songs we didn't think would ever be heard," says guitarist Simon Barker. "To have recorded them and be releasing them feels like we've cheated death."
There is no such thing as a dull moment for The Smoking Hearts. Live shows have seen guitars smashed and drum kits sprawled across stsmokingheartsvictoryages and it is not uncommon to find half the band playing in the crowd while singer Ben Mills is in the back of the venue, on the bar, or hanging from the rafters, all the while coercing the crowd into joining the party. Playing with the likes of The Used, Asking Alexandria, Gallows, Death By Stereo, and Andrew WK, The Smoking Hearts have cemented their reputation as one of the most exciting young bands in the U.K.
Originally formed by friends Nobba Green, Simon Barker, and Calvin Roffey and intended to be their ideal mix of Rock 'N' Roll and Punk Rock, The Smoking Hearts were quickly joined by drummer Matty Taylor and singer Rodd Lethal, who they knew from other local area bands. After releasing their debut album 'Pride of Nowhere' to rave reviews from the British music press (KKKK - Kerrang!, 8/10 Rocksound, 8/10 NME), vocalist Rodd inexplicably quit the band (via a text message), leaving them high and dry. Armed with a handful of demos recorded in Matty's bedroom, The Smoking Hearts began their search for a new singer. Word soon got out, and before audition requests could even be answered, a man by the name of Ben Mills (formerly of Essex hardcore band The Takeover) had emerged as favourite for the job.
The past 18 months have seen The Smoking Hearts go from their bedrooms, to clubs throughout the U.K. and Europe, destroy down in Australia as part of Soundwave Festival and even wreak havoc in the United States. Now, with the release of their new album, The Smoking Hearts intend on celebrating their victory worldwide.
