'Hotwaterburnbaby', last year's ass-kicker of an album by the Minneapolis monster squad otherwise know as MOMMY S3Z NO, certainly got the horns flying here at ÜRHQ. The horror rock record featured Jason Voorhees and The Cryptkeeper and a spattering of gutter-dirty punk 'n' roll tunes that so impressed the Über Massive that we had to investigate further. Frontman Jeff Arndt was more than happy to dig up a ghoulish Gig From Hell to add to our ever-growing collection of terror tales......

Hell's Gigs? Let's see, there have been a few......

The day of our second show, I got a call from Evil (our bass player) and he said he was in the hospital getting his hand stitched up. He'd been helping a friend move that morning, and as he was moving a glass aquarium he bumped something and his hand proceeded to go through the glass. He asked us if we could load his gear and he'd see us later at the show. The palm of his picking hand now had a nice slice in the palm that required five stitches. Evil picks with his fingers, so we were wondering if he'd be able to pull it off. He had some pretty wild expressionsmommys3zno on his face throughout the set, and some of them looked pretty painful, but he made it through the set and he did it all without any painkillers (one of the many reasons he's called Evil).

Another time, we were playing a Halloween gig and it had a pretty good crowd. We started off really well and partway into our second song as I started to sing the chorus of 'Hey Mommy' (off of our debut cd) which goes "Hey Mommy, I don't like you either" twice. Well, on the second "Hey", the burger I had eaten hours and hours earlier decided to reappear. I shut my mouth really quick and kept playing guitar as I puked. Out of respect to the club and such I swallowed, finished playing the song and promptly excused myself from the stage, made my way through the crowd to the bathroom where I proceeded to lose my lunch. I took my shirt off, wiped my face off and went back out and apologized to the crowd and we rocked the house. My throat was raw for days.

Every show we play tends to have its own little blend of insanity to it and anything can, will and does happen at the gigs, from crazy guest dancers, people bouncing off of each other, broken guitars, drums, puke, blood and more, and a lot of shows could have been called Hell's Gigs, and there will be more down the road, but it's all in the name of rock n roll, and we love playing our version of it.

Thanks for the opportunity to share some of our crazy stories with your readers!
