I'd been looking forward to tonight for what seemed like forever. You see, it's not often that I hear an album and it totally blows me away but Reckless Love's debut album did just that.............
Opening the show were UK rockers Jettblack who I'd not heard before. So, after a brief history lesson from my male companion (purely platonic!), we headed inside to see them. These guys play no bollocks rock 'n' roll, and stormed through their set. I enjoyed watching them, especially the bass player who looked über cool up there.
Up next is Brijitte West and her Desperate Hopefuls. I'd heard great things about these but, to be honest, I was left a little bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I thought they were good but nobody else seemed to get them and the crowd response wasn't great, with only a few cheers
Tonight was one of those special nights. It is Reckless Love's debut UK show in a hot, sweaty little club that was sold out. They hit the stage with 'Feel My Heat' and then went straight into 'Wild Touch'. Singer Olli Herman, Pepe (guitars), Jalle Verne (bass) and Hessu Maxx (drums) have a great energy about them and in no time they have the crowd dancing and singing along. With songs heavily influenced by Kiss, Poison and Ratt, the guys rocked through a solid set including 'So Yeah!!', 'Romance' (which Olli tells us will be the next single), 'Born To Rock' and 'Back To Paradise'.
Olli Herman's voice sounds fantastic, even better live than on the album. He moves around every inch of the stage, dancing and strutting his stuff. At one point he strips off his t-shirt and throws it into the crowd to the delight of every female in there....including me. 'Beautiful Bomb', their hit single, closed the main set in classic Reckless Love style.
