Not content with seeing The Quireboys tearing it up on the main stage of his favourite holiday camp, Dom Daley made his way into the big city to catch the band again while his ears were still ringing from the first time he'd seen them live that week. The Globe in Cardiff was the setting as our rock 'n' roll renegade found an unwell Spike using his perma-bandana as a hankie yet still managing to find his way around a set littered with classic tunes......

Motley Crue making a rare visit to UK shores and teaming up with Def Leppard in the process for a series of sixx co-headlining shows meant it was a case of Christmas come early for many, and with both bands going head to head playing 90 minutes a piece it was all set to be a true clash of the titans. Matt Phelps went along to check out the opening night of this juggernaut sized tour to find out if these Eighties veterans could still cut it in 2011, but more importantly party like it was 1989.

When you fall in love with a band, if you're like us, you'll pretty much do anything to get to see them live, even if it means travelling a good few hundred miles or seeing them supporting other bands you really have no interest in. Jim Rowland manages to do both in his quest to finally witness Swedish doom metallers Ghost live, and in all the excitement manages to be a few months out when picking one of his albums of the year.

It's not very often that we discuss football, politics and music in the same place here on Uber Rock, too much inter club/party rivalry to get in the way of our rock 'n' roll brotherly love. However when we got whiff of this cracking tour in support of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign we just had to show our support whatever our loyalties. Dom Daley stands in the presence of a true punk rock legend and can't wait to tell you all about it.

"Everyone should see a Hawkwind show before they die" so proclaims Mark Taylor, a man who loves the band so much his entire shirt collection is made from their old backdrops. But with only Dave Brock left from the original members would the current line up still deliver the goods in the same essential way?

Four days, sub zero temperatures, a handful of cancelled bands, eighty cans of lager, one bottle of vodka, ten tins of Stag chilli and god knows how many miles driven just so we could all be at this year's Hard Rock Hell. Johnny H tells the story of the weekend's events.

Doom metal pioneers Pentagram have been around in one shape or another since the early seventies, with the one constant in the band being wild man singer Bobby Liebling. In all that time they had never managed to play a single show in the UK, that was until just a week or so ago when they finally played in North London's Garage. Jim Rowland was at the show looking like a man possessed as the 'Day Of Reckoning' was nigh....

Hard Rock Hell might still have been but a glint in Mark Taylor's eyes when we sent the man to check out this great three-band bill in snowy North London, but would FM dust off a few classics ahead of their own HRH appearance to totally roast our writer's AOR chestnuts?
