As it is Sunday and should be a day of rest... but there is no rest for rock’n’ roll.

The Picturebooks 4

Tonight’s escapades are kicked off with Doomsday Outlaw, who I recently reviewed and are itching to get their new album out to the masses. So, tonight is another preview from the band with their southern influenced rock. I can't wait for the world to hear it as tonight is proof that it is damn good. The crowd is a bit light, but that doesn't bother them they have a got a great sound and they give it 100 per cent.

Next up are The Bad Flowers. Again I had just seen them a couple of weeks back and they too are showcasing new material and they don't disappoint the fans who in  numbers had more than doubled and so the reaction was good and there was a lot of foot stomping going on and by the time it had ended both band and crowd had big grins on their faces. See, rock 'n' roll is supposed to be fun!.

The Picturebooks 1

By the time The Picturebooks hit the stage the room is full. Now Fynn and Phil are small in stature but more then make-up for it with the wall of sound they create. Over the last 10 years, there have been a lot of duos appearing in the rock scene - but none making the impact that these guys are. They have been pigeonholed into blues, rock, psychedelia, just name a few. But these guys aren't bothered (ZFG is their motto).

From the moment the starting notes are played the guys start sweating....... it is bluesy, it is rocky, it is danceable, it is just friggin good music. Two weeks ag,o they played to a massive crowd at The HRH Doom vs HRH Stoner fest in Sheffield at the O2. It was a kick ass performance and has been echoed by many in the media. But, tonight was just as energetic and more personal as Fynn let the crowd know many a times throughout the set. Phil is a drummer that knows no limits. You would not have known that earlier in the week he had been laid up in bed with bronchitis. These guys are probably one of the hardest working duos out there today as they have been steadily touring for the last 5yrs and have another couple of months to go before taking a break and then hitting the studio to record a new album and then hitting the road again.

For folks who like great live bands, The Picturebooks are a must-see band.

For a Sunday this was definitely a rock ‘n’ roll religious experience!
