What better way to spend a Sunday evening than going along to one of my favorite haunts Camden Barfly to see the first London show from Steevi Jaimz in over a decade. I must admit to having been somewhat critical of Steevi on a few occasions but hearing the demos of 'My Private Hell' a few years ago made me release just how talented this guy actually is..........

On the way up to the venue I passed a bunch of what I'd describe as very sexy bad boy rockers who turned out, to my delight, to be one of the support bands and, as per usual, I didn't have a clue who they were! So kicking off tonight's rock 'n' roll carnage was Generation Graveyard, a band I'd descride as punky with a more harder edge and shit loads of attitude. They stormed through their set with 'Murder Rock N Roll', 'Destroy Yourself', 'Rest In Piss', 'Poison City' and 'Bastard Throne' and, thrown in for good measure, a cover of GG Allin's 'Bite It You Scum'. These guys didn't give a fuck about the lack of a crowd (at this point there was only about 50 people in the venue), they got up there and played loud and nasty rock 'n' roll like it should be played......

Next up are a band making big waves on the rock scene at the moment, The Mercy House. After only being together for just over a year, these guys have already featured on a Classic Rock magazine cover disc and recently won Metal Hammer's unsigned competition to open for NY hardcore giants Biohazard in London. Described to me as a mix between Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, I wasn't too sure if I'd like these guys but the minute they hit the stage my little ears were blown away by singer Drew's amazing voice - boy, can this guy sing and I mean sing. His vocal range is awesome. These guys say they wanna hit the UK music scene with a clenched fist and they did just that tonight, kicking off with 'Greed', the title track from their new three track EP, then blasting into 'Unclean', 'Inversation', and 'Lead The Way'. Despite a few technical difficulties with the sound, these guys finished with 'School' which saw them decsteevi4ide the stage wasn't big enough so they descended into the crowd for one last mental mosh - absolutely awesome!!!!!!!

At this point I can't help looking around the half...errm....full room and wondering what's in store next then, all of a sudden, Steevi Jaimz hits the stage jumping around like some sort of loon, spraying water everywhere before he's even sung a word. Opening the set with 'My Private Hell', Steevi sounded great and after a fair few line-up changes (one in recent weeks with the unfortunate departure of Mick Priestley) the band seem tight tonight with drummer Alex Martin bashing the hell out of his kit and bassist Shell just oozing rock star. Also big horns up to Ben Healey for stepping up and playing his arse off with only two weeks notice. We're straight into 'Dont Say It's Over', 'Little Sister' and 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof' which has everyone rocking, one female even decides to dance with the floor at one point, then thsteevi1e intro starts for the glam classic that is 'Living Without You' and I must admit that it was awesome hearing Steevi play this even if he did forget the words!

My favourite track from the latest album is 'Something Good Something Bad' and this was the one song tonight I really wanted to hear - it was by far the worst song of the night, the guys just didn't pull this off live. But they soon made up for that with 'Still Crazy' with Steevi clawing the hell out of his chest like a mad man and yes, this guy is still fucking crazy.....and we love it!

'Shoot To Kill', another classic Tailz track, was like a blast from the past and again he managed to forget the words so we sang it for him before he threw himself off stage, diving onto my mate, before set closer 'Amazing' topped the night off with a glam rock bang.
