The occasion was a charity night organised in memory of Tommy McManus, and also another of Northern Ireland's fallen heroes, former Sweet Savage guitarist Trevor Fleming, who lost his own battle against cancer almost exactly a year ago. Some 500-plus of the Mama's Boys faithful were there to turn back the clock and pay their tribute...and also hope that the rumoured appearance of brothers Pat and John McManus together onstage for the first time in 17 years came to fruition. Uber Rock hearts The Guns. There, we said it. While we count down the seconds until the band's second album, 'Fuck The Demon Outta Me', drops on Halloween, the UR massive has to make do with stunning live performances from the band - yeah, it's a tough life. Rob Watkins got his groove on at The Dolls House in Abertillery to catch the band in typically awesome fashion, with support coming in the shape of feral punk rock, acoustic hardcore and dubstep. Intrigued? Read on for the local lowdown....

Kory Clarke returns to Wales for the first time since his notorious skirmish with the mouth-breathing patrons of a backward, backwoods boozer, but this time he brings the rest of Warrior Soul with him. With a new bass player added at short notice would the legendary band need to leave another Welsh venue in a hurry? The seven song encore afforded The Steelhouse should offer some kind of clue......
