ad2After spending four days in the company of over 200 bands at Rebellion it was time to nip round the corner of the Blackpool Winter Gardens to see a five piece band who I've lamented about on these here pages often enough and, at the very rock 'n' roll hour of 2am, I was finally about to see if they could deliver the goods live as much as they do on record.

I didn't have to wait too long for The Adjusters to strike up the opening chords of 'Drinkin' Red Wine', from the debut album 'Reckless Relations', before it was obvious that they follow a long line of fantastic bands who more than grasp what good time party slop 'n' roll is all about. It's not about being safe or following trends it's about being outsiders and being just a little bit dangerous, but most of all it's about creating great music from the heart that you believe in.

There are definitely elements of bands like The Faces and the New York Dolls from the '70s through Hanoi Rocks and Gunfire Dance in the '80s. Wigan have got themselves a band to be proud of and a band that have the chops to deliver with a strong image and stage presence to pull this thing off. At times there seemed barely enough time to get the guitars in tune but it didn't matter because sometimes it's all about living in the moment and flying by the seat of your pants and tonight The Adjusters do exactly that with a short but oh so sweet set of matead1rial culled from the debut long player and the brand new EP, 'Trouble 'n Love'.

I, along with others, was happy to leave the venue having witnessed such a good band. On this form it's hard to believe they weren't given a slot on the main card at Rebellion. 'You Gotta Say', 'Dream But Don't Sleep' and 'Dirty Tricks', all off the new EP, sounded like a band who have the world at their feet. With the right backing, after what I witnessed tonight, they can go all the way.

'20th Century Boy' sounded like it was penned by Lemmy and closed off a great set, pure 100% rock 'n' roll bastards! Now, next year these boys must be on the main bill for Rebellion 2012, as well as all the other major rock festivals. At last the UK has a band to believe in! These my dears are good times; no, make that very good times. The Adjusters are one of the reasons why doing what I do is so enjoyable because, as Ms. Jett once sang, 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll' - Tonight that is certainly the case.
