It was the final day of an eventful weekend for our intrepid reporters Mark Taylor and Jim Rowland as Hellfest presented its strongest line up of bands so far. With the prospect of Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne closing off proceedings Uber Rock's very own scarecrow picked up his Del Boy Trotter phrase book and pen and went solo to capture the closing stages of a truly epic heavy metal event.

With Alice Cooper playing a club gig across town on Oxford St, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this show, featuring the second man behind the Ramones drum kit, might be a little undersold. Fear not though Uber Rockers as we welcome back Fraser Munro, who finds himself jammed into an already packed venue all ready to experience Marky Ramones Blitzkrieg....

Verden Allen, founding member of Mott The Hoople, returned to old haunts with his band Soft Ground to play a venue that had once been the rehearsal space used by the legendary British rock outfit. Mixing up the finer moments of his solo career with some of the most timeless songs this country has ever produced Allen, ably backed by a band that featured none other than Uber Rock's very own roving sticksman Matt Blakout, produced a truly special evening. Seb Metcalfe returns from his self imposed exile to tell it like it was....

With the summer festival season now well underway here in the UK, it's the warm up shows that bands sometimes play that usually get us all excited here at Uber Rock, and lo and behold if Johnny H isn't about to witness Primal Scream play their 'Screamadelica' album in a university night club. Slip inside for a very special night indeed.

Buckcherry returned to London to play at Camden's Electric Ballroom, with Slaves To Gravity and G.U. Medicine in support, and our resident cock rock superhero Ross Welford, although not having nice areolas like some members of the crowd, was there to fill his dirty mind with rock for your reading pleasure. But what Buckcherry would turn up on the night? Read on for his thoughts on the live and loud rock show.....

Last weekend Cheap Trick played 3 shows here in the UK and nothing was going to keep Johnny H (on support duties) or Russ P (headliners only) from witnessing one of them. Braving gale force winds and torrential rain and thanking their lucky stars they had chosen the safe option of Bristol instead of Download the dynamic duo suddenly found themselves amongst a truly international audience...looking to get married.

There's trouble on the Underground, England are playing football at home just yards away, yet the AOR masses have managed to pack out Wembley's legendary Arena for a triple whammy of Journey, Foreigner and Styx in record time due to the show's early doors. Jim Rowland was there for Uber Rock and he didn't miss an American heartbeat...

Playing a series of relatively low key shows across the UK as a warm up to a whole host of festival dates throughout the Summer, David Whistance sauntered into Cardiff's magnificent Coal Exchange to witness Johnny Lydon and his Public Image Limited give everyone a lesson in musical excellence that took the meaning of the word BASS to a whole new (sub) level

With the torrential downpours of day one but a distant memory, it was time for Uber Rock's very own version of Don Estelle and Windsor Davies to bask in some French sunshine and witness the arrival of Germany's very own Big 3 in thrash metal as Hellfest entered its second day. Mark Taylor picks up the day's classic rock whilst Jim Rowland whiplashes his way through the thrash.

Here at URHQ the onslaught of the UK Festival season frankly left us scratching our heads wondering which ones to attend. With nothing on the metal front except perhaps this week's Sonisphere to whet our appetites we sent our very own two men in a boat Mark Taylor and Jim Rowland over to France for the mighty Hellfest.

With a one-off appearance in broad daylight at last year's Download festival the only live show that British Cinderella fans had witnessed in two decades, the announcement that Tom Keifer and the boys were to appear at Shepherd's Bush Empire was met with fevered excitement in many quarters, the rock 'n' roll-addled mind of Uber Rock's Matt Phelps being one such afflicted location. Read on as our man battles badly-dressed AOR avengers to take one for rock and roll.....

Whilst South Wales may be a veritable hotbed of musical talent its safe to say that an average Friday night out in Crumlin would not usually be a gig involving 3 sleazy rock 'n' roll bands more suited to the Sunset Strip than Risca Skips. We sent Johnny H along to investigate just what the hell L.A Guns were doing in the Welsh Valleys, and look what he found out....

A week ago tonight the intergalactic wankers known as Gwar came to a small South Wales mining town and flattened it quicker than Margaret Thatcher, also on the bill were US stoners Clutch and UK thrashers Panic Cell for what can only be described as an eclectic mix of entertainment. Uber Rock's romantic rogue Craggy discovered that the only festival worthy of a visit last weekend was being held at Clapham Common and featured his favourite band of all time, INXS. Travelling alone so that he could use maximum focus for his reviewing duties, our man in the field sampled effeminate beverages and all manner of Antipodean pop rock in order to see his heroes.
