Week 73 of Uber Rock's World famous Album Cover Of The Week feature is highly personal to me. Anyone who knows my handsome frame will know just how much the colours of claret and blue mean to me. This example of curious cover art started out as a football shirt prototype..maybe....

With part one of his cavalcade of plaid provoking some accusations that we'd "turned our back on Glam", we couldn't wait to see what Rich Hobson would come up with for part two. Taking ten of his personal favourites acts from the Grunge genre and not necessarily the ten you might think he would pick here is the second instalment of The Bands That Killed Hair Metal.

With unconfirmed reports surfacing that last week's classic album cover actually convinced a suicidal gentleman with sexuality issues to climb down from the floodlights at the Maesycwmmer Enormodome, further proof that Über Röck is life changing is not needed. This week, über-scribe Matt Phelps wanted us to show you good people the album art that inspired his latest tattoo, a full backpiece created with a mixture of ink, semen and virgin blood......

Don't ever accuse us here at Über Röck of just picking seminal album covers out at random and chucking them up as an Album Cover Of The Week without giving any thought towards continuity. Take this week, an album tie-in so majestically timed with what is to come in a few short days time that all the boys and girls in Übersville will stand up and shout. First person to get this week's cover painted on their leather jacket wins a prize.......

There's no need for panic, we haven't launched our own dating website here on Uber Rock (not just yet anyway). Nah, this is our new occasional round up of all the lovely vinyl we've either purchased or had sent to review by the bands that love the smell of vinyl in the morning. Johnny H kicks off proceedings with a rare as hell UK Subs 7", a plethora of Japanese garage rock, the third single from The Old Firm Casuals and a real sonic surprise from JJ & The Real Jerks.

The Happy Mondays were more rock 'n' roll than most bands when they were still postmen - so says Shaun Ryder in this, his new autobiography. Now these are the DVDs we like here at Über Röck, apart from the Lord Of The Ring trilogy obviously. Dom Daley looks at the classic rock 'n' roll story of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed, specifically the period of 1971 to 1973, on a shiny disc full of grain but also fascinating insights on a trio of true music legends......
