First of all, we would like to say what an honour and a privilege for us to have been afforded the opportunity to take Über Röck to the next stage of its life.

UR Wings

When Johnny and Gaz told us that they were intending to give up the site, for the reasons they explained in great depth, we quickly realized that we could not let the seven years of hard work, blood, sweat, dedication – and undoubtedly a lot of fragrant Welsh swearwords – to build the site to the level it finds itself today suddenly come to an end. We could not let Über Röck slip quietly into the cold, dark nights of the annals of rock ‘n’ roll history. We knew that we had to help continue making that same rock ‘n’ roll history and continue the fight against musical mediocrity.

So, welcome to the new era of Über Röck.

There will be some changes to the site. Not just yet. We don’t want to rush in and make wholesale changes overnight. They will come slowly. The site will be revamped, with a fresh new look and new content: but the emphasis will be on the quality of the content rather than the quantity, and, in this regard, we are delighted that the vast majority of our excellent writers have agreed to remain on the team and join us on the next stage of our collective journey. Some have decided to move on, and we appreciate their motives for doing so, and wish them all the best on the path they choose to follow.

Of course, it would be deeply remiss of us not to thank Johnny and Gaz for their foresight in founding Über Röck in the first place, and all of the extremely hard work they have put in over the years. As they said in their statement, the negotiations on the transfer of the ownership of the site were friendly, something which reflected the bond of good friendship that we have forged over the past years. They have our utmost respect and best wishes for the future, and they know that our door is always open should they fancy popping over to Belfast for a pint of fruity cider or three!

Last, but not least, we would like to thank you. Our loyal readers. You are the lifeblood of Über Röck. Without you, we would not be doing what we do. At the end of the day, the Über Röck team are rock fans writing about rock music for other rock fans. Thank you for all your support so far and into the future.

Keep ‘er lit mofos.
