droughtThose Texans certainly know how to write a melody and this is as American sounding a polished rock album as they come. It could possibly see Drought trouble the US charts but whether there is enough rock to apease a European crowd quite as much is questionable - this is definitely the type of album that our overseas cousins seem to specialise in.

Occasionally dipping into Nickelback vocally but covering all ground for good measure, Mike Mikulas has got enough soul and emotion in his delivery to make you believe the stories behind all the songs and as they dip their hands into a variety of bands, which include The Goo Goo Dolls and Lonestar, you realise that they've made a pretty good lightweight rock sound. They start off with a guitar riff and within four seconds, you know exactly what this album is going to sound like. There are no surprises, no throw away songs that don't quite fit, no off the wall guitar solos and no massive anthems telling tales of sniffing cocaine from dwarves' heads - This is American TV Rock that plays nicely in the background whilst the show's stars kiss/split-up/wake up from a coma/realise they've slept with their sister (delete as applicable).

They hint at grunge occasionally with the likes of 'Look At Me' but the brake is always on just to make sure they don't get too excited. This is rock music that I fear Europeans just find a little stale or perhaps just a little boring. It is just so safe that the Uber massive will not be getting their kicks to this anytime soon. Having said that, it's well played, well sung, well written, well produced and mastered by producer, mixer and engineer Anthony Focx (Aerosmith, Buckcherry, Ace Frehley) but dirty RnR this is not.

Daily Mail readers would love this as a free CD and that probably says it all.
