1coalesceFollowing on from their critically acclaimed reunion release 'OX', Coalesce release  the 'OX EP' to complete 'OX'....so to speak.

Similar to the album in many ways, as you would expect, the instrumental 'Oxe To Ore' segues into 'The Blind Eye' and its punishing down-tuned groove which in turn gives way to the acoustic 'Joyless In Life'.  The ugliness of 'To My Ruin' then gives you a belt around the head to keep you on your toes, and so it goes for the duration.

As brutal as it is subtle in equal measures, 'OX EP' again shows Coalesce as pioneers of a genre yet to be defined. Refusing to be pigeon-holed  in much the same way as Tool did back in the day, they manage to achieve a sound of true intensity that is both challenging and rewarding. By my reckoning this barely clocks ten minutes but there's more in those ten minutes than some bands can produce in ten hours. Great stuff.
