blackpageturnsAfter crossing paths with UK mob Black Page Turns on a number of occasions - previous releases 'Simplest Of Tools' and 'Nail In The Coffin' - I again find myself checking out a two-track release from their good selves.

Opening track 'Lightning Strike' possesses two qualities that many an up-and-coming band would kill for; an infectious piece of guitar work and a memorable hook. A solid step forward for the band rather than a leap, this song is the best that this band have sounded in their short lifespan.

'Charlotte's Web' opens with that almost Maiden-esque twin harmony guitar thing that always rests uneasily with me. Still, coupled with the band's take on contemporary rock music, it certainly gives Black Page Turns a distinct sound that they can call their own.

Wrapped in impressive cover art, this latest release shows that Black Page Turns are growing more accomplished with every release. How far they go remains firmly in their hands.
