awolHere's an interesting one....with gifts! 3D glasses and a postcard? Go to the website and all will be revealed, but first to the music.

So here we have the first offering from 'Awolnation', an EP entitled 'Back From Earth' containing four original tracks and a remix. 'Burn It Down' starts nicely with a retro drum roll coming on like The Hives and The Jim Jones Revue, immediately grabbing my attention with the refrain of "burn it down baby, burn it burn it down" (which I have not been able to get out of my head since!). Simple beats, groovy and a punky attitude - nice.

'Guilty Filthy Soul' is the best song Prince never wrote (for the last 20 years anyway!) - classy, funky, deep bass, hand claps; imagine Beck and Prince getting together. 'Sail' is more chilled, electro pop with strings and edgy vocals. 'MF' sounds like it should be blasting out while playing a racing game and thumps along like The Prodigy, and any song that repeats the word 'motherfucker' gets the thumbs up from me! The remix of 'Burn It Down' is an added extra but not as good as the original song.

'Awolnation' certainly mix it up with 'Back From Earth'; there's a pretty original mixture of rock 'n' roll, funk, electro rock. Well, to me it's just over 19 minutes of bloody fine music and I will look forward to hearing more from them.

Check out the website for some great videos and the brilliant promo for 'Burn It Down' that features ninjas, spacemen and mermaids! Also two great trailers for spoof movies starring singer Aaron Bruno, 'Lost Signal' and 'Deep Danger', tributes to 50's Sci-Fi movies - clever stuff...in 3D! (that's what the glasses are for then!)
