blackbeardCaptain Black Beard; A truly shocking name if ever there was one. One that quite frankly deserves an equally shocking band. In that case, this band have got the wrong name because CBB play energetic, high tempo, quality melodic rock that is way better than their name would maybe suggest.

Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden yet sounding every inch the American band, this four piece have crafted a confident 11 tracks of rock that the likes of Dangerous Toys and Danger Danger etc would be more than proud of. This type of music is always bordering on cheese but they play it well enough to come out looking like a more than decent band with some great tunes without ever over doing the sentimental tripe.

You already know the subject matter of the songs - Love, Dreams, Life and all its hardships. We've heard it all before and it'll never change and if you like this type of music, CBB will more than satisfy your appetite. 'Rock Is My Life' sounds every inch the '80s song it's meant to be (and who can argue with the title?), 'Concrete Jungle' skips a decade into the '90s but retains that silky production feel that melodic rock does so well, and 'Summer Nights' is Extreme at their melodic pop best. This may not be breaking new ground but this is excellently crafted music by talented musicians that know exactly what they're trying to achieve and every track is of the same high standard they've set themselves.

Decent songs, written well and played well - sounds easy doesn't it, but when you hear something that just seems 'complete' you realise how many bands are out there that are nowhere near the finished article.

If you've absolutely any interest in melodic rock, I'd urge you to check these pirates out (couldn't resist!). Apart from the name, I'd suggest this is a winner.
