Lorenzo Woodrose (guitar and vocals), Fuzz Daddy (drums) and The Moody Guru (bass) have created a swirling, epic vibe that takes in the '60s at its soulful best and blends it up with some garage rock.
Opener, 'What Ya Gonna Do' has an Urge Overkill sound (and didn't everyone say they'd be huge?); a cool, stripped down track with harmonica and female backing singers that sets the tone for the next 13 tracks. 'Found My Way Out' creates such a feel that you'd imagine that they could write and jam in their sleep and it would still result in a slice of uber cool - I mean seriously, it's only the second track and you already know you'll be pressing repeat as soon as the album finishes. 'No Other Girl' is simply the greatest song that never got recorded in the '60s - imagine The Moody Blues recording this and it would be on every '60s compilation ever sold - Fact (okay, maybe not fact - I've maybe stretched the truth for effect but you get my point. Great song).
'Growing Younger' is a simple yet haunting song that drifts by on a sea of dreams and 'All Over Now' just continues the beautiful landscape of sounds. 'Chemical Buzz' is a Hives/Urge Overkill mix that is simply just that but better, whilst 'Born To Lose' shines a light on Finnish greats The Flaming Sideburns. The title track plays us out and it's a space odyssey of colours that you can imagine being played on the best underground movie you've never seen - it's got an almost Indian feel to it which just pulls you in; later Baby Woodrose albums would develop more on this spacier feel.
If only we could all be this cool..........
