Signature track 'No Bounds Tonight' has a no-nonsense attack and leaves the listener with no confusion as to what these boys are about. There are a few rough gems in here with a pinched lick on 'Whisky, Cigarettes And Tattoos' and some neat banjo playing on a couple of tracks (which you can't always say on a hardcore album). You can see their influences in each of the tracks, a little Rancid here and there, even the acoustic and excellent 'What Better Story' has more than a hint of their influence. Unadventurous it isn't, with the addition of the banjo playing there are definite signs of a pretty decent band on this debut release.
You wouldn't think of France when you hear NBT with more of a New Yawk hardcore sound and a tip of the hat to Agnostic Front on 'Hard To Believe' with singer Keuk giving it heaps with a rasp not unlike AF's Roger Miret. After the one-two assault of the openers, 'Til The End' has a folky flavour with the banjo playing but don't let that fool you, it's still HxC kids as the song reaches its conclusion it races straight into 'Faster'. There is a decent mix of styles here rather than eleven gut busting hardcore tracks, it's broken down which helps the record from becoming monotonous which is sometimes needed in this field of music....it flows quite well. With a better production next time out these boys could be onto something because they have the songs.
Big up the No Bounds Tonight they deserve some kudos for this debut, showing a maturity some bands never reach, especially for a debut long player. This definitely gets the thumbs up from me.
