steelcitycoverHailing from Italy, Steel City are worth a listen to - you'll either love 'em or hate 'em but they're still worth a listen.

Why you may ask? Weird and eclectic whilst being a blend of styles all at once is the answer. I can hear Faith No More (an obvious influence), Machine Head, Mordred, Alter Bridge (yes, really) and Bullet For My Valentine at any given point throughout this album.

The music sways from Chuck Mosley rap style FNM to rabid fan baiting, Mike Patton heavy FNM and from screamo vocals to swooning simplicity (the latest video they've put on their FB page is 'Digging The Grave' and after listening to this, it's no surprise they're fans). The guitars wail loud with solos aplenty, the beats are there, the pounding of drums grabs you but without doubt this album is built around the love him or loathe him vocals of Fabio Riccio. Sounding like a drunken ex genius with Sylvester Stallone style delivery, this man may be the key or lock to their success.

The music itself crosses so many boundaries that a broad range of fans may get this....... and it does work if you let it. It's a blend no question, but it's well written and well delivered and for a debut album that takes chances throughout, it's not a bad effort at all. Check out 'Mandagora' or 'No One's Guilty' for fine examples of Steel City and what they're all about.

Take a listen, you may surprise yourself.
