vendettaThink Downset. Think angry young men peeved off at their world. Add a liberal bit of Biohazard with some mega heavy riffing. Chuck in some Helmet whilst you're at it. It's fairly straight down the line hardcore to be fair with vocals ranging from the gang chants to the grisly bear growls from vocalist Adam Chalkley.

When you think of brutal, in your face hardcore you wouldn't generally throw up Peterborough as being the place to get down to some political, screaming, double bass pounding HC but first impressions can be deceiving. Whilst the sound is generic and fairly typical of this scene you need the one track that reels the punters in and let's them get a foot through the door and then appreciate the album bit by bit. Downset had 'Anger' which was great and grabbed the attention. I guess the closest I got to being reeled in was on track five, 'Skin', which has some great lyrics and the middle of the song reminded me of my good buddies Senser when they get all heavy. A great song in anyone's language and a great message. Once I was in I'm in the zone and 'Jeepers Creepers' (which isn't about my wonderful choice of footwear), another grower to be fair, whilst offering nothing new on the arrangement or the brutal chug, has a great bass distorted riff on the breakdown - nice!

On hearing '6s' I had to open up the lyric book just to check they haven't pinched Uber Rock's very own Zoot's lyric book. I had to press rewind after the first play because I was laughing so hard; Fuck me, who or whatever they're singing about using the terms 'her starfish' and '666 in my sack, shot up her snatch, nine months later who's kid is that" What the fuck is that all about I ask myself.

Anyway enough I say and whilst they do a good job on the delivery and the sound I can't help but feel this running at thirteen tracks, clocking in at just under fifty minutes, is too much even for an open mind like mine. I wish Vendetta well with their UKHC. Not enough quality to keep me interested for long sadly but hey, big up the Posh HC.
