dangerousEpitaph Records have a good reputation for bringing quality punk bands our way, introducing us in the past to the likes of Rancid, The Distillers and The Offspring to name but a few. They are also currently the home of heavyweights Social Distortion and Weezer. Dangerous! are the latest in a long line to proudly have the Epitaph logo emblazoned on their album cover and very deserving of it they are too.

This Aussie four piece play punky, garage rock hard and fast with no messing and this, their debut offering 'Teenage Rampage', was recorded in LA and produced by Ulrich Wild (Deftones and Pantera). It's an album packed to the brim with infectious, modern punk rock tunes that the punk kids are gonna lap up. With just one track exceeding the 3 minute mark it's a short sharp shock of an album and all the better for it too.

Album opener and debut single 'Not One Of You' is a perfect example of what makes this band stand out from the crowd, hitting straight off with a Hives riff, it's instant from the start. The gang vocals in the chorus are quality and work well, with singer Tommy screaming and snarling his lungs out like his life depends on it. The radio-friendly 'Movers And Shakers' is catchy and surely a future single.

Shouty gang vocals and riffs pinched from The Hives seem to be their trademarks, songs like 'Needle' and 'Slo Mo Video' are prime examples, sounding urgent and up for it, they are frantic stabs of punk rock. There are a lot of "whoas" and "yeahs" going on, which I like, and that is part of what makes this album so good.

Dangerous! leave no space for a breather, the two second gap between songs is all you are going to get with these boys. I don't have a clue what Tommy is singing most of the time but it doesn't really seem to matter; there is plenty of attitude there, and that's what counts. As the feedback from album closer 'D! Or Die' fades out you will find yourself reaching for the play button again, believe me.

'Teenage Rampage' is the perfect album to play in your car with the windows down and the volume up, plenty of teenage angst, a hard hitting soundtrack for the cool kids of today...and some of us older kids as well. If you like your rock 'n' roll hard 'n' fast you could do no better that giving them a go.

They don't have an exclamation mark at the end of their name for nothing you know, that subtle use of punctuation makes a bold statement; are they really dangerous? Only time will tell but they look like they could certainly cause trouble.

Dangerous! have it all on their side, they have the Californian punk boy band look off to a tee, they've got the haircuts and the 'dragged through a hedge backwards' look. The boys are gonna want to be them and the girls are gonna want to be with them. They also have a very strong album and the backing of a cool label, hell even the cover art is cool. The songs are punk enough to interest the old school and yet current sounding to pull in the younger audience, and on these strengths I feel they cannot fail. By the time you read this they will have completed a UK tour supporting Young Guns and will have played a handful of their own UK shows approved_image_lrg_2011following on from their appearance at Download - expect to hear a lot more from these rising stars.
