Now from 1977 to 2010, as the title suggests, there seems to be some 'Unfinished Business'.
Ripping straight into the title track, Marseille nail their colours to the door and you can really hear those NWOBHM roots right away, there's a no nonsense British feel to the song and indeed the production, and also a great vocal performance from singer Nigel Roberts. I'm thankfully too young to have any prior knowledge of Marseille, so this is all pretty fresh to me but it would be really interesting to discuss the band's release now compared to classic albums gone by with someone who was around and engrossed in the whole British scene back then. 'Rock Radio' starts with a vocal line which could very easily be Noddy Holder. In fact the vibe is very much Slade all the way and it's a catchy tune, Neil Buchanan has that classic 'clean/distorted' Gibson sound that is just so crucial to a great rock track. 'Wanna Get High' is a fast tempo rocking tune, also with some great guitar work. 'Lost' and 'Blown It' meanwhile pay homage to Def Leppard in feel but luckily the production doesn't take away from some great songs, 'Lost,' itself verging on a ballad. I noted 'Raise Hell' having a great drum sound, snare in particular! It's a no nonsense rockin' tune with a shoutalong chorus that'll go down a storm live. Now the stand out track for me, 'I Believe'. This has a great build up start with an infectious chant chorus. I defy anyone to not enjoy this track to the maximum. 'In For The Kill', 'Everyone Dies Young' and 'The Game' round the album off nicely all great mid pace stompers.
I really do hope the band's unfinished business gets closure with the success it deserves. On the strength of material here it's got a good shot. Catch the band on their comprehensive tour starting the end of September and 'Believe' once again.
