'Get Plastered' is the 13 track full length debut from Senor 2 vocals, Signore 5 guitar, Mister 3z bass and Herr 10 drums with tracks written and performed in Spanish, English, Russian and Italian making it something of an interesting if somewhat difficult listen first time around.
A few spins in though and you would have to be some brain dead idiot not be dancing around your living room to the likes of 'La Frazione Stiletto' or 'Vaticanis Volcano' both tracks featuring telecasters set to stun and a feelgood beach party vibe to get your booties swaying.
The Slit Plasters are a band challenging the status quo reinventing the garage rock genre in the process, and I'll be fucked if I know what the album opener is all about or if I can find the Russian font I'd need to be able to reproduce its title here, and quite what they are doing on album closer 'Monsters In Your Pants' other than what can only be described as 'auctioneer rock', is beyond my comprehension.
I was the one who said during my review of the band's 'It Smells Like Hell Over Here EP' (which you can read here) that I wanted to know everything about the Slit Plasters, so I'm pleased to report that 'M.i.l.fy Way' (once again what a great title from the guys) and 'Massacre' (no not a Thin Lizzy cover, but more like what Nick Cave might sound like if he smiled once in a while) really do live up to the promise of that EP. Elsewhere whilst the riffs do become a bit samey the explosion of sound that the Hammond organ brings to proceedings lifts the band's songs out of merely being derivative, and let's not overlook the addition of one man band King Automatic on 3 of the tracks from side one of 'Get Plastered', he has to be heard to be believed.
Actually scrub that it's The Slit Plasters who have to be heard to be believed, they make vinyl records, they sing in multiple languages, they push musical boundaries and they play live music. Whether or not they also drive whilst using their mobile phones as their bio proudly declares I'm not here to vouch for, but what I will say is "The world need bands like The Slit Plasters", now lets all go out there and 'Get Plastered'.
I love the smell of Yellow Vinyl in the morning, it smells of victory, and The Slit Plasters are the ones doing all the celebrating.
