Now I know this might not even see the light of day on the hallowed pages of Über Röck (wrong!!!) but I, as a rock fan, stand my own ground and listen to every piece of music I can to see what sticks. And while a load of people will be shouting "...but Travie McCoy is not rock..." it's the punk attitude he brings to the proceedings that shows his true beliefs...
McCoy's debut solo album has been released on Pete Wentz's Decaydance Records, a record label based in New York City originally founded as an imprint of Fueled by Ramen. Decaydance and Fueled by Ramen have been called one of the "epicenters of the emo-rock movement".
Opening 'Dr.Feelgood' thankfully is not the Motley Crue song of the same name, but a classic slice of Gym Class Heroes pop rock. Second track 'Superbad 11-34' is track that could have been lifted from Tommy Lee's Tommyland - it's that good. 'Billionaire' is next up which more than likely everyone knows as this song is everywhere at the moment, but this being the album it's the uncensored version. 'Don't Pretend' features Colin Munroe and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. 'We'll Be Alright' samples the Supergrass song 'Alright'.
This album will not appeal to everyone but will cheer up the people who take a punt on this and listen with their ears wide open......
