whoshotwhoWell, what have we got here then? Apart from another strange name for a band that tells the casual album buyer nuffink, if you look a little closer and see it contains a former member of Newport punkers Strawberry Blondes and two members of Goldblade you might sit up and take notice...

Encased in these here silvery disc particles are a mighty fine set of songs with the heartbeat of a lion and the lyrical delivery of a young Hugh Cornwell, all deadpan as if he were blurting out some John Cooper Clarke poems but somehow it only adds to the powerful playing. You have political jolts to the eardrums and songs born out of frustration and disillusionment; in parts it reminded me of New Model Army around the time of 'Vengeance' but way more punk rock. Drawing on some in your face punk, oi oi and some trip hop break beats (old school styley of course) Who Shot Who? create a rather unique and fresh approach to a genre, nowhere more apparent than 'Hooligans Handbook'.

Yes, there are elements of certain bands in here but it's punchy, clever and very much in your face. 'Have You Seen Annette?' is a great introduction to the band's work and a most enjoyable foray into the world of Who Shot Who? Where they go next is anyone's guess.
