tracesofyouI like it when a band comes out of nowhere, especially when they are as good as Traces Of You. When I got forwarded the band's email asking if we'd review their debut I really hoped it would be good because, at the end of the day, any band that gets off their arses and promotes themselves deserves good things. And talking of good things, Traces Of You certainly are that.

Hailing from Milan, Italy, TOY peddle a brand of metallic hardcore that packs the punch of Killswitch Engage and Earth Crisis/Freya whilst retaining a sense of individuality and melody all of their own. Opener 'Something More' has some quite intricate riffing to it and starts things off nicely enough, but it's the hardcore groove that 'Our Fate Is Today' settles into which really sets the tone for the album. Great pace and energy, crisp riffs, great vocals and most importantly one of a whole host of top-notch tunes on offer. Stand out track 'Move Along' has it all, driving rhythms, great guitar licks and the kind of vibe which will surely spark many a circle pit.

For a debut this record really is amazing in its consistent quality with not a duff track in sight. If this lot could land themselves a few support slots around Europe I wouldn't be surprised to hear big things from them in the not too distant future.
