For any younger fans that never experienced those days or fans like myself who never really embraced the thrash experience first time around apart from the few major players can now have the opportunity to appreciate this musical genre. Whilst many of the great thrash bands from the original era have reunited of recent years and released some mighty fine material it was when Municipal Waste arrived on the scene that this particular reviewer sat up and listened. When the Waste arrived they opened the door for a new breed of thrash bands that have released some fantastic music without straying too far from the original blueprint, bands such as Evile, Warbringer, Gamma Bomb and of course Bonded By Blood.
Having taken their name from the legendary debut by San Francisco thrash legends Exodus, the band add more than just a little nod to their heroes on this album. From the glorious futuristic artwork to the wonderfully titled tracks such as 'Episodes Of Aggression', 'Genetic Encryption' and 'Parasitic Infection' this takes you back in time to a place where a music fan could appreciate everything about the latest release from their favourite bands from the artwork through to inner sleeve notes. Bollocks to the download revolution I say! That is not to say 'Exiled To Earth' sounds dated whatsoever, quite on the contrary this album sounds fresh exciting and most importantly heavy as fuck.
Each vocal line sang by Jose Barrales spits anger and venom, drummer Carlos Regalado pummels you into submission with his furious and frantic drumming style, whilst Alex Lee and Juan Juarez shred like motherfuckers leaving bassist Jerry Garcia to keep everyone in line. From opening number 'Prototype: Death Machine' through to 'Genetic Encription' every song is played with such passion and energy that it rips your face off, but still leaves you craving for more.
Whilst the major music magazines are far more interested in the so called 'Big Four', I would much rather listen to something fresh and exciting than be caught up in the latest Anthrax soap opera.
If you want to experience the Bonded By Blood live experience for yourself then get yourself to the awesome Bloodstock festival better still why not buy 'Exiled To Earth' when it's released on August 10th in the US and August 16th in the UK and Europe...Rage on!
