The_Movements_-_Follow_The_MovementsGlancing through the press release I find that The Movements are Swedish and this year is their 10th Anniversary (where have I been to miss them for so long???). This release is made up of an earlier EP called 'Drag Me Up', previously released in 2004, and four new tracks.

From the opening there's only one place this record is taking me and that's psychedelic garage rock...and there's nothing wrong with that, takes me back to the 70s Nuggets series that threw up all sorts for me, some great, and some not so great.

The new tracks sit comfortably next to the old, things have moved on but the garage rock vibe remains, in fact what leapt out at me was an outtake from the 'Drag Me Up' session, 'You Don't Know' - it has a classic Velvets feel, and you can just picture the ghost of Andy Warhol nodding his head in a knowing manner.

The actual EP stuff sits next to, for aficionados of history, bands like the 13th Floor Elevators or the Strawberry Alarm Clock amongst a host of others. It says in the press release that tours are being booked and I will be checking out www.themovements.com for dates.

If you like '70s garage rock with a psychedelic feel you will love this.
