slideshowWhy do I love Swedish bands? I think the plain and simple fact is .....THEY GET IT.

Slideshow like to call this 'Action Rock' and I can see why, if you're not moving your ass after you listen to this then you may as well be dead...or a depressed teenage goth.

Slideshow were born out of the bands Wicked and Rock Dolls, forming to create this eleven track debut that nods at early Hellacopters and The Backyard Babies. No thrills, dirty fuckin' ROCK that carries a tune and still pounds hard. Forget the lipstick and glamour, this lot concentrate on the songs.

The reason the aforementioned bands were so successful was that first and foremost came the music and a lot of bands seem to forget this fact.

'Strung-out Liar' introduces us to this band from Lulea, Sweden and already you hear the influences mixed up in their enthusiasm - it's got that not quite polished feel that adds to the authenticity of a band that I'm instantly getting wood for. 'Horizon' follows it up with a snarl whilst adding a melodic edge that the BB's were great at. 'Big Chief' is Gluecifer-esque with great guitars from Tommy Legun and drummer Nicky Dollar getting his money's worth throughout.

'Brand New Day' starts with an old skool Metallica riff and melts into a foot tapping head stomper with the thrash legends bubbling under the surface throughout this track - it's further proof that they know what they're doing and not just chucking tracks down because that's all they've got.

'Stoned, Ripped And Twisted' gets a mention for not only being the best song title I've heard this year but for being a great song to finish an album with. High tempo, all out attack that showcases all that this band are about. Singer Poe Deprey really does give this four piece that punky edge that lifts it up above the average band.

The glam bands of Sweden get a lot of press and attention here in the UK but this is one non glam Swedish band that I hope get just as much. Fucking great stuff.

Slideshow go for the throat whilst caressing your balls and quite frankly, I like it.
