Alongside the original bands of the various genres we have some great new bands cropping up from their various genres bands such as Reckless Love and Crashdiet from the hair metal scene, Slaves To Gravity from the post grunge genre and Evile and Gamma Bomb from the thrash scene. And another great thrash band to release a bloodcurdling, heavy and more importantly fresh sounding new album are Brazilian thrashers Korzus.
It's only after reading the band's website that I was shocked to discover this band has been making incredible heavy music since 1983 and if this album is anything to go by this band should have been huge.
Listening to the twelve awesome tracks on 'Discipline Of Hate' I discovered this band has much more in common with the San Francisco Bay Area scene than fellow Brazilians Sepultura (coincidently guitarist Andreas Kisser guests on the album). From the brutal opening title track to the appropriately titled swansong 'Hell' this album takes no prisoners.
The musicianship on the album is simply incredible and proves that whilst the band may be considered underdogs of the new thrash scene, with this album they are producing music that eclipses the outputs of the here and now from the so-called kings of the Bay Area scene.
Vocalist Marcello Pompeu owns one of the most ferocious pair of lungs I have heard in a long while as he spits out the lyrics with bile and venom. Songs such as '2012', 'Raise Your Soul', 'Slavery' and 'Never Die' prove these guys are producing some of the finest heavy metal music I have heard for quite a while.
We have just witnessed some pretty fine releases from Exodus and Annihilator whilst Death Angel are about to release their best material for aeons. If you love your music heavy, brutal whilst still sounding incredibly fresh than I suggest you invest in the latest album by Korzus and you will discover that just like the awesome album track, 'You Reap What You Sow'.
