It's not as 'Punk Rock' as his previous band, more a nod in the direction of 70's glam rock a la Joan Jett or Sweet with a sprinkling of L.A.M.F if it was covered by prime time Cheap Trick thrown in for good measure. It's crammed full of massive melodies and rockin' hooks. This five track EP with its sharp production is a great soundtrack to a balmy summer of skinny jeans, feather cut hairdos and creepers or Cons to bop around in.
Track one 'Hang Around' could be a brand new Boys track for 2010 with a Cheap Trick 'Surrender' styley on the verse - sweet stuff indeed. 'So Cheap So Deadly' has some great barroom keyboards tonking in the background 'I Wanna Be Your Dog Style'. 'Dreamer' is the most 70's retro kind of song with a great chorus and shows that Tuk is more than capable as a lead vocalist and guitar player and his style really compliments the music. 'Beat Me Baby' has a groovey Heartbreakers riff and bass line with great 'Mystery City' oh-ohs as backing vocals. Finally, 'Anymore' wraps things up nicely and this short sharp debut from Biters is a great taste of things to come and I shall stay tuned in for the full length debut when it comes out.
Rock 'n' roll is definitely alive and very well indeed thanks to bands like this. Unfortunately you'll have to pop over to iTunes and buy yourself this summer's soundtrack - you won't regret it.
