ballbreakerAre they really called 'Daddy Long Legs'? "Oh dear God almighty" was my first thought and then I checked again. It was only then that I realised that the band is called Ballbreaker. I eased the plastic into the player and sat back and waited.....

After an intro from a 1960's horror flick, 'Atom Bomb' exploded out of the speakers in a full on sleaze rock barf with a riff borrowed from Faster Pussycat's 'Smash Alley', speeded up of course and dragged through some extra dirt just to make it sleazier (if that's possible).

Of the nine tracks on offer from Ballbreaker there is definitely no reinventing of the wheel here. These chaps are just going to party all over the record playing a style of what they like and if you're in for the ride, then hop on board. 'Guilty Pleasure' is sleaze by numbers with lyrics obviously not penned by Stephen Hawkins. A strange title for a record and 'Daddy Long Legs' sees the band run through some DC riffs with more than a hint of Mr Cooper in the vocal delivery and lyrics. I dread to think what 'B Hole Boogie' is about - I could take a stab at it, but this is a family site isn't it?

The late 80's saw the Sunset Strip awash with bands like Ballbreaker until grunge wiped them all out....or did it? With this release being born in the band's 15th year this isn't some snotty new kids on the block but a band who've been around a while so if you like your DC with a dose of sleaze then why not check em out, you could do a lot worse, but then don't blame me if you find out you'd rather listen to your old DC albums as there are, in all honesty, a fair amount of better bands ploughing this overcrowded furrow of rock. Sorry chaps but it just didn't work for me.
