Rhode_Island_RedLondon five-piece Rhode Island Red describe themselves as a combination of the finer elements of Garbage and the Cult, and listening to the opening track of this new three track EP, 'Kerosene', you can't really argue with them. The raunchy and gutsy vocals from front lady Lyla D'Souza combines with a big guitar sound, some tasty guitar licks and a great to the point solo to produce a storming little slice of melodic pop/rock with balls. The chorus is strong, as is the production.

Second track 'Beige' follows suit, echoing the melodic yet powerful sound of 'Kerosene', this track has some more belting vocals and another great chorus.

Final track 'Stalemate' is a bit more of a mid-paced ballady type rocker in the vein of Skunk Anansie's 'Weak' and is another good effort. In fact if you're a fan of Skunk Anansie, 'Kerosene' may just be the release you've been looking for to set you're world on fire right now.
