YTDirty Harry, The Golden Gate Bridge, San Quentin, Faith No More, Journey and the hippy movement of the late 1960's, and let's not forget that Karl Malden and Michael Douglas cop show about the streets of this world famous city. Of course I'm referring to San Francisco but right now I'm here to talk about acclaimed metal legends Y&T and none of the former.

'Facemelter' is album number twelve from the guys (their first with new guys Mike Vanderhule and John Nymann on drums and guitar) and it's actually been thirteen long years since the band's previous studio offering 'Endangered Species' hit the shelves, but the million dollar question I guess you're all going to ask is "is it worth the wait?"

Well there are obvious similarities between this album and 1982's 'Black Tiger' with that album's classic opening salvo of 'From The Moon' and 'Open Fire' bearing more than a passing resemblance to 'Prelude' and 'On With The Show' from 'Facemelter', so that must be a good sign, right?

Throughout the album the soulful riffage is none the less distinctive and the vocal courtesy of the one and only David Meniketti is as strong as it always was. However decent tunes like 'How Long', 'Shine On' and 'Wild Child' are, they simply are not what I'd call 'classic Y&T', you know? But in this modern age, the guys do still write good songs and continue to give enthralling live performances right across the globe. I mean they are playing Donington Park again for the first time in twenty six years next month so again they must be doing something right.

Excuse the pun but yesterday and today is pretty much how I'd sum this album up, you can make of that what you will.
