the_lords_of_altamontFrom the depths of the darkest, most sleazy garage those Lords Of Altamont have blessed us all in 2011 with a cracking twelve more tracks of honking garage, down 'n' dirty, rock 'n' roll, staying true to the biker club sounds of the best bits of MC5 and Iggy And The Stooges with some Sonics thrown into the mix for good measure.

We're up and revving with 'F.F.T.S.' but we're not fucked at all, we're rockin' out with our horns in the air. The Lords Of Altamont are one of those bands that does exactly what it says on the tin, never dipping below the high standards of their influences and managing to harness their sound into a well rounded collection of ditties without feeling the need to change their style or diversify too much.

There's an exceptional cover of the Dead Boys classic 'Aint It Fun' which reeks of the real deal and honours such a mammoth tune in a way it deserves. Tracks like 'Synanon Kids', with its undercurrent of swirling organs and hypnotic riff, are fuzzed up, fucked up and howling at the moon and, to finish off proceedings, we get a walk on the seedy side of town with the fantastic 'Action Woman'.

I doubt one iota if bands like The Lords Of Altamont give a flying fuck if you don't like their raw soundscape because they're gonna keep it real for those of us who do dig the wild and reckless sounds they create and if you do have a hankering for all of the above and you drop the needle into the groove and aren't impressed with the passion and power of songs like 'F.F.T.S.' then I guess you are fucked from the start.

There is a borrowed lick from Mr Costello on the 'Pump It Up' influenced 'You're Gonna Get There' which is yet more proof that the evil powers of rock 'n' roll are alive and kicking and shaking their shit for all the beautiful people out there. Thank those Gods of rock 'n' roll for bands like The Lords Of Altamont because they quite simply keep giving. Buy it \m/
