muster-station2011 sees noise proponents PS I Love You unleash their chaotic debut album, 'Meet Me at the Muster Station', available through Paper Bag Records. And with this release the Ontario-based duo manage to produce a cacophony of 90s-inspired hecticness that somehow sounds well beyond the reach of merely two people.

PS I Love You's brand of garage rock may be noisy but it is also melodious and accessible with its heart based in an influence of classic grunge. And perhaps this influence certifies that the songs, although raucous, are certainly memorable. Drums and guitars crash into each other with purpose while lead singer Saulnier screams and squeals his way through the fuzzy tones, making sure to keep you fully upright. In an effort to keep punchy and fresh they go about their business in an economic manner, cramming in 10 pummelling tracks in under 30 minutes.

The passion and power in this well-produced debut, twinned with musical variation and ability, make it a somewhat surprisingly pleasurable listen. Throw in a few screaming solos to match the strangled voice and you have something brimming with energy and accomplishment, giving any fans of messed-up alternative grunge a short, sharp shot of happiness.
