Being the complete nerd that I am I replied in the affirmative, to which the girl let out a little giggle...at this point I congratulated myself in proving little shits like her wrong and that I buy the music I like no matter what store clerks like her think and, more to the point, put on the desk an Über Röck leaflet for her to give herself a lesson and to check out the site that is quickly becoming the place to be seen typing! I mean for fuck's sake she had last year's Reading/Leeds festival bracelet on! Dirty bitch! Having seen the bracelet I asked her will she be going to this year's kiddie fest and if so will she taking enough money for the fair. Damn it - I miss being behind a counter in a record shop!!! Record shop sarcasm - the best in the world!
Anyway that little diatribe is meant to give a little insight into what Kids In Glass Houses have ahead of them and I truly believe that this album will rid them of the kiddie emo pop band tag that they currently suffer from.
The album boasts a sound the size of America thanks to a great production from A's Jason Perry (who is becoming the UK's answer to production god Butch Walker). The Welsh quartet have delivered the album that Stereophonics are too scared to make - ie, A GREAT ROCK album!
Following on from their debut, 2008's 'Smart Causal', 'Dirt' retains its predessor's knack for soaring melodies and razor edged guitars, while showing a more mature songwriting style that will shock the band's naysayers.....
Opening with 'Artbreak 1' which is two and a half minutes of pure bliss and wasting no time in announcing 'The Best Is Yet To Come' - the band are truly showing their true pedigree and class. First Single 'Matter At All' continues the master class in song writing and, whilst being all over Radio 1's playlist, is still a song that should've been so much more...
Ok, the lyrical themes are still the same but it's the musical proficiency on show that shines and sparkles. This album, guys and gals, is the bee knees in power pop/emo and to check this out will give you the biggest smile EVER!
