depthNorwich five piece Depth kick off proceedings with 'Built By One' which tells you everything you need to know from the go... that this is another entry in the post-hardcore saturated field. Basically it's latter-day Funeral For A Friend, which is no bad thing, but I can't help but sing along with FFAF lyrics. While it's competent, it's not show stealing... Yet!

This band have a promising future if they are given the chance to prove themselves on the live circuit. I'm sure the band will slay audiences nationwide. That said, 'Burning Pages' reminds me of FFAF on their debut EP, 'Between Order and Model', where a couple of songs were polished and were included on their debut album, namely 'Juno' which was transformed in to 'Juneau'.

Over the course of the album the band clearly show they have the talent but for me I am left flat. They need someone to smooth off the rough edges and show what the band are capable of.

Each song is clearly given its own chance to shine, while growing in strength. Songs such as 'Hero With A Half Life' and 'The Story So Far' show light and shade with bucketfuls of melody, I just wish the band would have enlisted a producer who is capable of the task in hand.

As the album finishes with 'Carcrash Conscience' the band have left me wanting more and interested in their future...
