disarmuseI liked the debut album from Disarm but couldn't help feel there was more in the tank and a little variety was needed in the songs. Sadly with this EP I'm left thinking the band have gone further the other way with a little less variety in the songs and some very-acquired-taste vocals on offer.

'At The End Of Everything' starts off proceedings with a rapid volley of drums and guitar and a catchy enough chorus but the death metal screams do nothing for me and sort of detract from the power of the song. That theme carries on for the rest of the EP with 'Gagged, Shagged, Body-Bagged' (whilst a great title) brutal and harsh, yet the vocals just tend to detract from the force of the music. Five tracks, one as brutal as the next, fail to lift them from the pool of bands who play hard, which is a shame because there are occasional glimpses of good songs here, like the chorus of 'A Crash Course In Strategic Dismemberment' which shows promise but breaks down into another metal workout.

There are no subtle moments to lift the brutal parts and give them impact, it's just heads down and go! An EP I thought was going to see a band push on but has ultimately disappointed me, not something I'll want to listen to often if I'm honest but, there you go, one man's poison and all that.
