Fortunately being the only person at ÜRHQ with their turntable actually up and running, it was yours truly who had the pleasure of dropping the needle in the groove on this two (or three) tracker, whichever way you cut it.
Die Wasted recall a time when great bands had fantastic stage names like 'War Machine' Roger Caustic (guitar/vocals), 'One Night' Brandon Hoffman (bass) and Johnny Younger (drums) and also took enough pride in their music to put stuff out like this fantastic sounding 7" single.
Lead track 'Wasteland Fugitives' is the perfect fucker of a track to introduce the band, packing a hefty three-minute punk rock racket on side one. It sort of reminds me of The Blood and their awesome 'False Gestures' era stuff, Rogers's vocals being spat out over a heavy bass vibe. "I'm an Outlaw" indeed guys.
The B Side (I feel all emotional just saying that) is made up of 'Into The Tavern/My Last Drink' which rather uncannily sounds like a slowed down version of Motorhead's 'We Are The Road Crew' pounding away at your senses like primetime Venom have just moved into the house next door to you and are rehearsing at full volume.
Glancing at the band website I notice that this 7" has now sold out, but fear not as Die Wasted have a CD Single due out very soon, the rather wonderfully titled 'Sleazy Nights 'till Armageddon', which I can only assume must have been influenced by their recent supports to The Last Vegas (now that must have been one hell of a show).
You can stick all the modern technology that is killing the music industry up your arse, coz this is how to present a band professionally, hardcore as fuck and all wrapped up in a neat seven inch package of mayhem.
Check out Die Wasted for a quality slice of punk rock 'n' sleaze and tell them Über Röck sent you.
