Kicking off with a motherfucker of an opening track 'Raging Chaos' is the introduction to the latest release from Czech Republic death metallers Nahum, and it’s a fantastic throw back into the past glories of such luminaries as Sepultura, Obituary, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel etc.
This album 'And The Chaos Has Begun' apparently follows on from 2012's 'The Gates Are Open' but introduces some fresh blood into the band by way of new guitarist Michal Kapec and drummer Tom Brighter.
The whole thing from its apocalyptic cover art to the unreadable band logo has the stench of early ‘90s death metal. However the real difference here is that it's really well done and is a great listen.
‘And The Chaos Has Begun’ jumps on your stomach, kicks you in the windpipe and before you know it it's finished and left you in a heap in the corner. The entire album clocks in at just over 32 minutes but that's more than enough pummelling, trust me!
'Vomit The Darkness' is a full on blast beat piece of loveliness with some melodic guitar work halfway through which has echoes of classic Kreator. Meanwhile 'Creator Of Emptiness' starts off peacefully enough before more guttural screams and bowel movement inducing riffs take over.
Nahum are also extremely competent musicians and have got their craft down to a fine art.
If you’re a fan of the aforementioned bands then you will absolutely love Nahum. Check ‘em out!
