Mors Principum EstDecember and January has definitely been reinvigorating time music wise for my good self and we’re not to the end of January yet.

I’ve had some stuff come through from all sorts of places in all sorts of styles even in genres I’m not particularly comfortable with, and this baby my second of the month from AFM Records is a clear case in point.

It’s being pushed as melodic death metal!!! Which to be fair it is. ‘…and Death Said Live’ does exactly as stated on the tin, but interestingly there are a few people involved with this Finnish band that help raise it up a level from the normally average stuff you’d expect namely Jona Weinhofen from Bring Me The Horizon and Ryan Knight from The Black Dahlia Murder.

Looking through the accompanying blurb, the band have been around since 2003, but have gone through a number of line-up changes, have been compared to Children of Bodom (Yup I can hear that) and have released three prior LP’s. This being the fourth after a six year gap owing to the aforementioned line up changes.

Technically its spot on, the drummer is insane, the twin guitars sound spot on too and I like the vocals. I did really just say that didn’t I? As a melodic death metal LP its well above the average but there’s only so much you can say about this particular genre, you will or won’t like it.

Personally I think you should give it a go you might surprise yourself, enjoy!!!!
