The promo blurb says that it's not easy to pigeonhole Bonemud but I'd say that it's quite the opposite: Papa Roach + Korn = Bonemud.
Wasn't that hard really, was it?
It's like the last 15 years have never happened as they crunch out their de-tuned riffs on the first track.....'Homiez'. Perhaps I'm being over critical, but they're from Bristol not LA and it comes as a bit of a shock when you actually get to hear them speak later on in the track - because they sound and feel so American that it feels a tad fake when you get to hear a semi posh English accent half way through. It shouldn't distract you from their large sound though.
'Lil' Whore' is the whole Papa Roach angst, me against the world rant and, again, is a decent stab at the genre - you'll have heard it before but it's more than acceptable. 'Something I Am' is the Korn rant - less commercial, more angry and with electro weirdness going off in the background. Put simply, It's their 'Freak On A Leash'.
Final track 'U&I' brings back the reflective, more mature sounds of Papa Roach and adds a touch of POD's 'Alive' to proceedings and rounds off this decent sounding EP.
This is a new line up which sees the four piece pushing forward after their debut album from 2010 and it'll be of interest to anyone who loves wearing 3/4 length shorts whilst headbanging to a bit of rapcore and nu metal.
They sound young, hungry and pissed off.......just the way they should be sounding.
