No, this not a homage to The Doors or Jim Morrison being a back door man, this is simply what it felt like when I heard this band's second album, 'From Nothing To Now'.
It's just poor. They've obviously got too much money floating about and instead of spending it on reefers the size of a baby's arm or hookers with no redeeming features like most Dutchmen, they spend it on some studio time...and these guys are surely old enough to realise their limits by now?
It sounded like KISS on one track, M.O.D. on another and it's pretty much out of tune on the rest.
Talk of Boom! on the drums and Bam! on the guitars are superfluous when all that matters is the tunes and apart from maybe 'Shoot Me', nothing is catchy, bombastic, clever or creative enough to warrant your time and money.
The lyrics are painful ('Girls'), the approach and delivery are at times embarrassing ('That's Why') and the fact that they're not 16 years old makes me realise that there is no excuse for them - 'No Money, No Friends' is a prime example, they're grown men whinging about teenage problems for fuck's sake.
Enjoy the band live with a pint or four but please don't annoy me with tales of this being anything more than an average pub band.
